Emperor Caligula feels a violent need for impossible things - immortality, happiness, the moon itself.

Following the death of his beloved sister, he deserts the Roman Assembly for three days and three nights. Driven mad by his own lucidity, he holds fast to one single objective: to understand the meaning of life. Society needs to be taught a lesson. Who better to do it than a man with absolute power, and how better to do it than by a regime of arbitrary hedonism and violence.

Last year's hot ticket at London's Donmar Warehouse, David Greig's powerful and witty translation of Camus' Caligula is sexy, cruel, funny and anarchic. This is theatre at its electrifying best
