After 32 years of marriage, celebrated journalist Gus Spenser leaves his wife Honor for Claudia, a seductive contemporary of the Spenser's 23-year-old daughter, Sophie. Having sacrificed her own writing career to play wife and mother, Honor is suddenly cut adrfit, left to rebuild a life from the post-separation debris of anger, shock and humiliation. Chided by her daughter and confronted by her competition, her first steps out into a brave new world are further complicated by Gus's discovery that passion and love may not necessarily be the same thing.
